India, Vietnam promote business cooperation and investment in logistics sector

The Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, in cooperation with Private Sector Development Office (known as Committee IV of Advisory Council of Administrative Procedures Reform of Prime Minister), Vietnam Ship Agents, Brokers and Maritime Services Providers Association (VISABA), and Vietnam Logistics Association (VLA) successfully organized the hybrid conference “India – Vietnam Investment and Business Promotion in Logistics sector” in Ho Chi Minh City.

The conference was conducted in a hybrid format, aiming to create a platform for Vietnamese enterprise to exchange and gain knowledge about the logistics industry of India as well as opportunities to invest in this sector in India. The conference welcomed the participation of 80 Vietnamese enterprises in logistics sector to join physically.


Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City gave a speech at the conference, sharing that the logistics sector in Vietnam is considerately developed. He hoped the conference would be the chance for the enterprises from both sides to meet and learn from each other in this sector.

Sumita Dawra, Special Sectary (Logistics), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry had a presentation showcasing the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (for Infrastructure and Logistics sector development). The Master Plan was launched on October 13th, 2021, for building Next Generation Infrastructure which improves Ease of Living as well as Ease of Doing Business. She emphasized that the broad targets of the PM Gati Shakti Master Plan is a critical tool that also integrates economic and infrastructural planning with socio-economic development.

Abhishek Chaudhary, Vice President, National Industrial Corridor Development Programme, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry introduced about the investment projects in the field of logistics, transport infrastructure and industrial corridors. He shared about National Industrial Corridor Development Program including 11 Industrial Corridors in details with key information about investors, investment highlights.

Dang Hong Nhung, Specialist of Import – Export Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam made her presentation online about Vietnam Logistics action plan with the goals toward 2025 included making its contribution to GDP increase to 5-6%, business growth rate increase to 15 – 20%, service out-source ratio decrease to 50 -60%, logistics cost against GDP decrease to 16 – 20%. She also mentioned about the solutions for the growth of logistics industry were the improvement in legal framework, infrastructure, business capacity, market creation and human resource.

Dang Vu Thanh, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Logistics Association (VLA) shared about the opportunities to invest in logistics infrastructure in Vietnam, especially in Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong Province. He also expressed his belief in making Vietnam a leading transshipment hub in the region by signifying various advantages of the workforce, location, etc.

Pham Thi Ngoc Thuy, Director of Committee IV moderated panel discussion with the panelists from Indian and Vietnamese side, discussing about the opportunities to invest oversea in Vietnam and India. There were also questions regarding the incentives of tax, electricity, water and land when investing in India.
